Retail Banking Definition

Retail banking is also known as consumer banking or personal banking. It provides financial services to individual consumers rather than businesses. Services offered by retail banks include checking and savings accounts, mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, and certificates of deposit. Compared to business or private banking, the sales volume is relatively low and at the same time high quantities have to be processed. That’s why highly standardized products are offered not individual solutions.
